• Finding Properties Since 1984
  • Our story so far

Stacks was started in the early 1980’s by Paul Greenwood, and 33 years later, is run by his son, James.

Paul Greenwood had worked for Marsh and Parsons, John D. Wood and Knight Frank.  The one thing he realised as an estate agent, representing people looking to sell their property, was that nobody was out there helping the buyer.

The buyer was bombarded with property, mostly unsuitable, and found it difficult to know what to look at, let alone whether the asking price reflected any kind of reality.

On March 17th 1984, Stacks was born with an advertisement in Country Life.

Paul initially could only help those people looking around Cirencester, where he lived.  What he realised early on was that a good search/buying agent can only really help their clients if the agent knows the area (and the people of that area) like the back of their hand.

The first wave of Stacks Regional Directors, located across the UK, were legends – Patrick Doyne, Mary Still, Peter Lewis, Charles Dawes and many others.  Their reputations and integrity were a byword for best practice – and they helped so many people move.

    They also built an industry.

Stacks is a family business whose core business is helping clients find the right home.

We are looking forward to helping more people make that MOVE, in fact make more moves, as they progress through life.  The property buying process is stressful and, for many, a nightmare – and it shouldn’t be.  We want to make buying your next home exciting and fun.

And we are looking forward to the next 30 years.

(We might even get some repeat business – most of our clients never move again!  A sign of a job well done?)
