It is difficult to know exactly where to start with my appreciation but from our first interaction with you, you listened keenly and patiently to our brief (even when it changed more than once during the search!), you were incredibly proactive, hardworking, and understanding of our requirements, and when the search begun in earnest you sent us many examples of options which fit our requirements before they even came onto the market. This is no better evidenced than by the fact that the eventual house that we purchased hadn’t even come back on the market after a previous agreed sale falling through before we had agreed our sale. This element of keeping us ‘ahead of the game’ offered huge value to us in our search, not least as you were doing all the heavy lifting throughout the search and sales process due to our overseas base at the time.

Thank you Bill , It was good working with you. I appreciated your candour about the current state of the market and your proactivity in digging out the few opportunities there were.

About two years ago, we decided to return to the UK from abroad. We had found the right school for our children and we imagined that we would find a home close to it – and that would be a fairly easy thing to achieve. Well, it wasn’t.

Without somebody on the ground asking the right questions on our behalf, finding a home would have been truly impossible. That’s when my husband contacted Bill, who he happened to compete against years back when they were both in their school’s rowing teams.

Bill found us a home in a sought-after area with a high demand for properties and very little on offer. He understood our spec from the start: a) a family home with historical features in need of some refurbishment, b) a generously-sized garden, c) within a town and, d) not more than a 10 minutes drive to school.
He came up with many alternatives, visiting homes, relaying in detail what he had seen, helping us prioritise and narrow down our requirements, taking pics, organising second and third viewings.

He understood our timescale and, since we weren’t closing a deal, the urgency of our situation. We were moving country – had booked the packers – and had nowhere to move into!

It’s not an exaggeration to say Bill was pretty much on call, on the look-out for properties coming up for sale and even backup alternatives, such as homes for rent.

Finally, he found the right house. After helping us negotiate a price, he supported us through a very speedy process of exchanging.

Once that final stage was complete, he visited the property several times more to assess what would be needed in order to make it liveable. This added help was immensely valuable. It meant we didn’t have to get onto yet another plane just before moving to sort out important logistical details.

When people ask us how we found our lovely home, I always go back to the regattas in 1983 – Bill steered his team to win almost every single time.
