The Mayflower, Rotherhithe, SE16
Hidden away in Rotherhithe village with a terrace which literally overhangs the Thames and occasionally floods, is the oldest pub on the River Thames, with its history dating back to the Pilgrim brother’s ship The Mayflower having moored there. Another very famous pub, and also lays claim to being the oldest riverside pub in London dating back to 1520! The pub used to be a meeting point for smugglers but now offers an excellent place for a drink after perhaps doing the Historic East London walk.
