Eight postcodes where house prices rose by more than £100,000 this year
Quoting Nick Cunningham of Stacks Property Finders
North Devon, EX33
Stretching from the Unesco biosphere reserve of Braunton Burrows to the family-friendly beach at Woolacombe, via Croyde, this slice of north Devon is a surfer and sun-seeker’s paradise and closer to Britain’s main cities than its rival Cornwall to the south. Inland, the sleepy market town of Braunton offers a smattering of shops, surf stores and Squires, one of the best fish-and-chip restaurants in the county.
House prices in the area have risen dramatically. Nick Cunningham, a local buying agent with Stacks Property, says: “The inaccessibility of the area used to keep prices down but now that is seen as an attraction. People looking for homes in the area have also discovered the disparity between property prices in east Devon and here, where you can get more for your money.
“Prices are starting to catch up, though. A house, inland, that sold last August at £900,000 has just gone back on the market and sold instantly for £1.1 million. I think prices are at their highest realistic level now, though.”
