Anyone living in the county has a lot to keep them entertained. Naturally the countryside, and the Chilterns in particular being an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offer stunning walks along well managed footpaths. But it’s not all open fields and gorgeous views. There are many atmospheric areas of woodland and forestry that offer mountain biking trails, picnic areas, and a chance for some peace and quiet. Plus the carefully maintained network of waterways and lakes provide the opportunity for fishing, water sports, and boating. Throw in a touch of horse riding, and you begin to realise just how much the great outdoors is on offer in the county.
But it’s no surprise really because Buckinghamshire is home to more National Trust properties and sites than any other county in England. It has grand country houses, woodland walks, and landscaped gardens galore; we often say the county’s historical past wonderfully tempers the speed of modern day living.
However there’s also plenty to keep one occupied inside when the rain is pouring down. From the Roald Dahl Museum, to Hughenden Manor, to browsing in boutiques, to the extensive shopping centre in Milton Keynes, you will never be twiddling your thumbs.
