Surrey Property Finders

Surrey is one of the most popular counties for commuters because of the proximity to London and the high standard of schools.

Obviously this is reflected in the price of houses, which can be 25% higher than neighbouring Hampshire and West Sussex. This office covers the area to the SW of London including Guildford, Godalming, Cranleigh, Elstead, Hindhead and Haslemere.

The villages to the south and east of Guildford are extremely sought-after by families moving out of London. Some villages such as Wonersh, Shalford, Shamley Green have the archetypal village greens with a pub and a shop, and others in the Surrey Hills offer much more rural living. Cranleigh, near the southern boundary with West Sussex, is a much bigger village with supermarkets and a wider range of shops.

The A3 is the main road link to London which was greatly improved by the opening of the Hindhead Tunnel in 2011. Haslemere is the furthest point in Surrey from London and apart from in rush hour, a journey to Chelsea & Fulham is usually 45-50mins by car.

Guildford is commonly known as the county town of Surrey, although as Kingston houses the county council there is some debate about this. Suffice to say that Guildford offers a very wide range of services and cultural destinations, these include a Norman Castle overlooking the town, the cathedral, art galleries, Theatres, cinemas, farmers markets and a plethora of shops. The commute to London by train is 36mins.

Over the last 30yrs we have found and bought houses for our clients in the town, but the vast majority have been in the surrounding villages. Bill Spreckley (our regional director) used to work for Knight Frank in the town before he moved to Stacks in 2007 and so has a lot of close contacts in this part of the county.

The South-western tip of Surrey, but one of the most popular destinations for our clients over the years. The vast majority of our clients moving to Haslemere have had children at school age and one or two parents who have to commute to London either daily or a few times a week. The train takes 53mins to Waterloo.

The High St is no longer used for cattle markets (!) and the town now contains a lovely mix of shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, pubs, a Waitrose and a Pizza Express. The town is set up for families with young children, offering a top-class array of schools and a fantastic choice of sports clubs and activities for children and adults. Haslemere is right on the border with West Sussex and Hampshire, and a stone’s throw from the stunning countryside of the South Downs National Park. Fabulous walking, great village pubs and only a 45min drive to the 4 mile long sand beach at West Wittering.

Last year a client of ours sold their 4 bedroom terraced house in Fulham and bought a 6 bedroom 3000 sq ft detached Victorian house in the centre of Haslemere with a large garden, for the same price. Then earlier this year another client moved from a 4 bedroom semi-detached house in Wimbledon and we found them a beautiful extended cottage in a village near Haslemere with a 1.2acre garden, without them having to spend any more money. Please have a look at our testimonials page for some of our client’s thoughts about our services.
