Witham Hall is an independent boarding and day school located in Witham on the Hill, Lincolnshire. It caters for both boys and girls aged 4-13. It is approximately 15 mins drive from Stamford.

Copthill Primary School is a popular independent day school in Uffington, Stamford.

Laxton Junior is a leading independent day school in Oundle, Northamptonshire. It caters for boys and girls from Reception age up to Year 6. And is approximately 25 mins drive from Stamford.

Stoneygate School is part of the Leicester Grammar School Trust and is located in Great Glen. It is a highly regarded co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 4-16. And is about 30 mins drive from Uppingham.

Spratton Hall is an independent prep school for boys and girls aged between 4-13. It’s set in the lovely village of Spratton, surrounded by stunning Northamptonshire countryside, about 35 mins drive from Rockingham. 

Maidwell Primary School is a very popular state funded school, rated as outstanding by Ofsted in their last inspection. It’s located in the village of Maidwell, which is about 35 mins from Uppingham.

Brook Priory is an independent, co-educational prep school. It’s located in Oakham, and children often progress to Oakham, Oundle, Ratcliffe College, Tudor Hall, Eton College, Harrow, Repton and Uppingham Schools from there.

Popular secondary schools in Rutland

Stamford School is an independent school for boys. Stamford High School offers the same for girls. And there is the co-educational Stamford Junior Schools for primary pupils. The three schools make up the body, Stamford Endowed Schools.

Oundle School is an independent co-educational boarding and day school. Pupils can join from 11 years of age onwards. Oundle is just over the border in Northamptonshire, and is about 30 mins drive from Uppingham.

Oakham School is also an independent co-educational boarding and day school. It caters for pupils from the ages of 10-18. It’s history is shared in some respects with Uppingham School and they share a common badge design. Oakham’s colours tend to be black and red.

Uppingham School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school. Most pupils join at 13, however entry is possible for sixth form too. It’s history is shared with Oakham School, and as mentioned above they share a common badge design. Uppingham’s colours are usually blue and white.

Bourne Grammar School is a co-educational grammar school. It’s history goes back as far as the 14th century, however it was awarded Academy status in January 2012. Students join in Year 7 and can continue through to Sixth Form. It’s about 30 mins from Oakham.

Peterborough School is an independent co-educational day school. It is part of the Woodard group of schools – the largest collection of Church of England schools in England. Pupils join in Year 7 and can continue through to Sixth Form. It’s roughly 35 mins from Oakham.

Kings School was founded by Henry VIII. It is a state-funded Church of England school. And though originally it was founded just for boys, girls are now admitted too. It too is about 35 mins from Oakham.
