As the South East falls out of favour with commuters, Bristol and Bath take the lead

Just south of Bristol, the Chew Valley has a slew of villages boasting good primary schools, including Chew Stoke, Home CounBlagdon, Burrington and Bishop Sutton. Many of the independent schools in Bath and Bristol now run buses from the Chew Valley. ‘Abbots Leigh, Leigh Woods and Sneyd Park are all suburbs of Bristol that deserve a mention as they are great places to live that offer a bit more space for your money than buying in the more prime areas,’ says Amanda Ake of Stacks Property Search, a buying agency that helps people move from the South East. ‘The villages south of Bath have always held a higher price tag due to the easy commute into the city,’ she adds.
‘Wellow has always been popular for this reason and attracts many who relocate from London. For easier access by public transport, Norton St Philip and Hinton Charterhouse are a good choice.’
