“My husband and I knew we’d done the right thing when we asked Stacks to help us find a home outside London. We’d been looking for two years, but everything we came up with seemed impractical or overwhelming. We liked Craig instantly. He’s quick and observant, and he “got” us – we’re quirky, demanding, and busy. Many apparently suitable houses just didn’t feel right for us. He didn’t try to persuade us to buy anything unsuitable. He was patient and listened carefully, and within about two days with Craig we found a house that we like very much in a vibrant community that we know we can be part of.

The house, however, is also quirky and demanding (so perfect for us!). Without Craig’s calm assurance, we might have shied away from buying it and ended up with something a bit easier but duller. Because Craig had confidence in us and was so supportive, we made the right choice. He knows that finding the house in the first place is only half the battle. He negotiated tirelessly on our behalf. He knows the region and the housing market back to front and we felt that the exchange and completion process went very smoothly as a result.

Craig also made sure we had plenty of access between exchange and completion so we could consider our choice carefully and identify issues that might need addressing. has an amazing local network that he can call upon to fix any of the minor problems that inevitably come up when you buy a house. He sorted out the phone and utilities, and he found us a gardener, a housekeeper, an electrician, a chimney specialist, a builder for early estimates, and most importantly an amazing architect. He’s been a close and very helpful part of our discussions with everybody. When you’re new to a town and an area, that’s priceless.

As we both still work, buying this wonderful house without Craig on our team would have been immensely stressful, and we would almost certainly have made many unncessary mistakes and compromises. Having Craig there to help us with the transition took almost all of the stress away. I’ve seldom had such consistent, wise support in a major life decision, and I can’t emphasize enough how helpful it is.

If I had to single out Craig’s best qualities, I’d say it’s his positive attitude. He always finds a solution and is never daunted. He also has a great feel for houses and for what’s worth changing, and what can be left alone. He’s managed properties professionally and it really shows. And just as importantly, he’s sensitive to people’s individual tastes and needs.

We very much hope Craig remains a close friend and ally. More to the point, we are already recommending him to friends, in the hope of luring them to this beautiful part of the country. If they have Craig to help them, they just might make the move.”
