Chesil Beach is an 18 mile long shingle bank, reaching 40 feet high which separates the sea from the Fleet, a large lagoon, famous for its diverse habitat and bird life.
Further east one finds the famous horseshoe shaped Lulworth Cove and the standing rocks of Durdle Door, the sandy beaches of Swanage and Studland and the huge natural Poole Harbour, with its numerous islands. Sandbanks, a spit of land, now famed for its celebrity occupants and their ‘grand designs’ homes juts into the harbour at its entrance, affording a great two-way view to Sandbanks inhabitants and those looking on!
Just around the corner is Bournemouth with its sandy beaches and thriving community. With some of the highest sun hours in Britain, a University, airport and a huge variety of property, it is no wonder it ranks highly in ‘best places to live’ reports.
